About this resource

Students in grades 3–5 work through three short school scenarios: a classmate joining a chalk-maze project, a group combining bird pictures with leaf sorting, and an invitation that limits a game to fast runners.

The nine numbered tasks ask students to identify a problem, propose a usable response and practice a repair. Six ruled writing fields provide space for short answers and explanations. A reusable partner-talk card gives each speaker a turn to share an idea, check the meaning and respond. Students may pass or use the supplied situations.

The separate two-page teacher guide includes preparation, a teacher-led model, numbered keys, acceptable alternatives, support choices, misconceptions and feedback. A teacher can read the situations aloud, scribe or support AAC responses. Students need to follow a short scenario and communicate or select a response.

Students will

  • Propose a role that helps a classmate join a shared task.
  • Combine two ideas while leaving room for both contributions.
  • Repair an excluding invitation and practice it with a partner.
