How to leave a class in Google Classroom
Quick answer
- Go to classroom.google.com (or open the app).
- On the class card, click More (⋮) › Unenroll.
- Click Unenroll again to confirm.
No Unenroll option? Your school has turned it off, or the class is archived. Ask your teacher to remove you.
On a phone or tablet
In the Classroom app, tap More (⋮) on the class card, or open the class and tap More at the top. Tap Unenroll, then Unenroll again.
Teachers: removing a student
If a student's Unenroll option is missing, a teacher can remove them from People: tick the student, click Actions › Remove.

What happens to my work if I leave?
The class disappears from your Classroom. Your files stay in your Google Drive, but your grades in that class are removed, so check with your teacher first.
Can I rejoin later?
Yes, with the class code or a new invite from your teacher.
Why can't I leave an archived class?
Students can't unenroll from archived classes. Your teacher can restore the class or remove you.
